Ticks are a huge problem in NOVA!

Ticks are a huge problem in NOVA!

Is your pet ticked off ? đŸ˜Ÿ

If you live in the DMV like I do, we get the best of both worlds: city vibes and gorgeous countryside. But if you’re out hitting the trails or just hanging in your backyard, you aren’t alone. There are 3 main characters lurking close by.

The Blacklegged (Deer) Tick: a.k.a. “The Intern” may be tiny but they’re doing the most (spreading disease). They carry Lyme, Anaplasmosis, & Babesiosis

The Lone Star Tick: The one with the "Main Character" energy, is aggressive and famous for causing the Alpha-gal allergy, which could make you allergic to that Smoked brisket you were planning to eat for dinner. It also spreads Ehrlichiosis.

The American Dog Tick, the "Commuter”, you’ll find in the tall grass along trails and suburbs. They’re bigger and easier to spot, but they can carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

Prevention is key, so talk to your vet about which prevention works best for your pet.

And yeah
 if you’re not using prevention
your pet has every right to be ticked off đŸ˜Ÿ
