Is your pet ticked off ? đŸ
If you live in the DMV like I do, we get the best of both worlds: city vibes and gorgeous countryside. But if youâre out hitting the trails or just hanging in your backyard, you arenât alone. There are 3 main characters lurking close by.
The Blacklegged (Deer) Tick: a.k.a. âThe Internâ may be tiny but theyâre doing the most (spreading disease). They carry Lyme, Anaplasmosis, & Babesiosis
The Lone Star Tick: The one with the "Main Character" energy, is aggressive and famous for causing the Alpha-gal allergy, which could make you allergic to that Smoked brisket you were planning to eat for dinner. It also spreads Ehrlichiosis.
The American Dog Tick, the "Commuterâ, youâll find in the tall grass along trails and suburbs. Theyâre bigger and easier to spot, but they can carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
Prevention is key, so talk to your vet about which prevention works best for your pet.
And yeah⊠if youâre not using prevention⊠your pet has every right to be ticked off đŸ
