Vanessa Escobar, the founder of Laika’s Laundry, spent 15 years in Los Angeles, CA, working as a technical designer in the women’s fashion industry. In 2018, she followed her passion for helping animals, earning an Animal Science degree to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).

The idea for Laika’s Laundry emerged in 2023 after her dog, Laika, underwent spay surgery. While searching for a recovery suit, Vanessa noticed the recover suit market lacked high-quality fabrics and practical designs that allowed dogs to urinate or defecate without removing the suit. Additionally, Laika had developed sensitivity in her front legs after having multiple IV catheters placed during a bout with Parvo as a puppy, making it difficult for her to wear suits that required bending her legs for dressing.

Laika’s Laundry is a thoughtfully designed collection of recovery suits created in collaboration with veterinary doctors and technicians. These suits provide an alternative to the “cone of shame,” allowing dogs to recover comfortably while maintaining their ability to smell, hear, see, and eat without restrictions.
